Gary Cornell – Founder

Dr. Gary Cornell holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Brown University, with a specialization in number theory. After two decades in academia, he transitioned to applied research and science policy, including serving as a visiting scientist at IBM’s Watson Labs and a Program Director at the U.S. National Science Foundation.

Dr. Cornell is an accomplished author and co-editor of foundational texts in arithmetic geometry as well as numerous programming books. He is the co-founder and former CEO of Apress, which became one of the fastest-growing publishers for IT professionals globally before its acquisition by Springer Nature.

He brings extensive experience at the intersection of academic publishing, research policy, and software development, and now focuses on advancing research integrity and transparency through data-driven technologies at Scitility.

Jan-Erik de Boer – Founder

Jan-Erik brings over two decades of leadership experience in academic publishing, most recently serving as Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Springer Nature, one of the world’s largest scientific, technical, and medical publishers.

During his 25-year tenure, he led numerous high-impact digital transformation initiatives, including the development of SpringerLink, a widely acclaimed online platform for academic content. His deep knowledge of technology strategy, digital infrastructure, and product innovation has made him a trusted figure in the STM publishing ecosystem.

As a co-founder of Scitility, Jan-Erik applies this expertise to build cutting-edge tools that support research quality, enhance publishing workflows, and restore trust in scholarly communication.

Antonio José Molina Gutiérrez – Founder

Antonio is a senior software engineer and technical leader with over 20 years of experience in high-performance systems across sectors including finance and scientific publishing.

He played a key role in rebuilding the peer review infrastructure for Springer Nature, delivering a scalable system now in use across hundreds of journals. His engineering portfolio includes critical work for LMAX, a financial trading platform handling over a trillion dollars in annual transactions, and the development of enterprise solutions used by leading UK retailers.

Antonio combines deep technical capability with a commitment to scientific integrity, leading the technical architecture and engineering vision behind Scitility’s flagship product, Argos.
